Looking for camera for home green screen studio

I'm shooting videos with my kids for fun and I'm looking to upgrade my setup. This is mostly for green screen use in my basement. I'm looking to spend less than $500 if possible and I'm happy to buy used or refurbished. Here's what I think my needs are:

  1. hooking up an external mic
  2. being able to see what's being recorded on an external TV
  3. able to mount on a tripod
  4. I'm usually shooting next to a power outlet so I'd like to be able to plug it in and record if the battery dies.

I don't think I'll be doing any still photography with this camera. Do I buy a camcorder? Do I get an DLSR? What should I do? Thanks.
